Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term mentor Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.
The win also indicates he has won 21 championships at twenty-one various competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.
The player's defensive strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The pair traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
He saved four early-game opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, he clinched the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
